Steven Dieu received his undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at University Of Houston and law degree at State University of New York in Buffalo. He is currently working at the Harris County Attorney Office as a Senior Assistant County Attorney. Prior to his current position at the Harris County, Steven Dieu worked as a Managing Attorney for the Office of Texas Attorney General. Steven Dieu is very active in community work. He is the Chairperson of the Vietnamese Civic Center. He is also the Chairperson of the BoatPeople-SOS's Advisory Board, and former Board member and Treasurer of the H.O.P.E clinic.
State Representative Hubert Vo received his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston by day while working as a machinist at Hughes Tool Company in the evenings. He has been a leader in the Alief community for three decades. Besides serving on the board of Vietnamese Civic Center; Hubert also is serving on the board of the Alief YMCA and as a council member of the Alief Super Neighborhood.
Loan Nguyen earned her Master's degree of Library Science from University of North Texas. She is currently a Periodicals/Reference Librarian at University of St. Thomas. Ever since she decided to become a librarian, she has always dreamed of creating a Vietnamese Library in the United States, which would promote the heritage and culture of Vietnam. Her dream came true when she joined the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation and was asked by the Vietnamese Civic Center Board members to start up Nha Viet library at the Vietnamese Civic Center.
Dr. Nghiem N Pham is a graduate from University of Houston, College of Optometry in 1991 with a degree of Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Nghiem Pham has practiced Optometry in Houston since 1995. Before he moved to Houston, he received his undergraduate degree from University of Oklahoma.
Marjorie Cheng is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she obtained her Business Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Accounting. She joined ConocoPhillips in Houston, TX working in their Internal Audit, Exploration & Production Finance, and currently Accounting Policy groups. In addition to her role on the Vietnamese Civic Center Board, Marjorie is involved in a variety of activities including campus recruiter at the University of Texas at Austin, Committee member of ConocoPhillips' Asian American Network, and Junior Achievement volunteer.
Daniel Stoecker Chief Operating Officer of Boat People SOS, Inc., a national Vietnamese-American organization serving immigrant and refugee communities across the country and overseas. Daniel is a graduate of the International Studies program at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He also serves as Chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and is a Member of the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations.
Nicole Phuong Cao is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her Master’s degree of Business Administration majoring in Finance. She is currently a Wealth Advisory Specialist and Guided Portfolio Manager for Smith Barney, a division of Citigroup Global Markets. Prior to this position, Nicole was a Vice President at J. P. Morgan Chase working in different capacities ranging from international and corporate syndication, commercial and business lending, trust and investment. She serves as Vice-Chair and Secretary of Midtown Redevelopment Authority, Vice-Chair of Vietnamese Civic Center, director of South Main Alliance and Christus Foundation for Healthcare. Nicole is also a former director and trustee of University of St. Thomas and co-founder of Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce. She is married to Ba Huu Cao and has two daughters.
Ba Huu Cao, RPh graduated from the Medical and Pharmacy School of Saigon University in 1968, and received the National Pharmacist License in 1969. From 1970 to 1974, he served in the Vietnamese army as Lieutenant Officer of the 711th Medical and Pharmaceutical Depot at Danang, was promoted to Captain and then transferred to the Ministry of Health at Saigon. In 1977, Ba received his BS of Pharmacy from University of Texas at Austin and became Registered Pharmacist the same year. He worked for Hermann Hospital for two years before starting his own retail pharmacy, Milam Pharmacy, the first pharmacy to serve the Vietnamese community in the greater Houston area. He is the founder of Milam Merchant Association, founder and President of Vietnamese American Pharmacist Association in Texas (VAPAT) 1979-1987. Ba currently works for Memorial Hermann Hospital-Northwest.
Dr. Dinh Bui finished his undergraduate study at Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He graduated in 1995 from University of Texas with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, followed by a Master of Science program with thesis in Periodontics in 1998. His master thesis entitled "Evaluation of the Treatment of Class III Furcation Defect Using Bovine Grafting Material and Guided Tissue Regeneration". His academic honors include Dean's list, Who's Who among Students in American University and Colleges, and Physiology Excellence award. Dr. Bui currently practicing full mouth reconstruction combined conservative principles of Orthodontics, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics..
Katherine Bui Katherine has more than 13 years of experience in print media, television media, corporate marketing, and communications. She is currently Marketing and Communications Coordinator for a Houston based oil and gas servicing company. She has a BA in English at the University of Houston and a MA in Journalism from Texas A&M-Commerce.
Dr. Thuan Tran graduated medical school in 1961 in Vietnam. He is currently employed in the City of Houston Health Department. One of his passions is to help the young Vietnamese generation build a brighter future.
